Our Detox in France

Paris is just a beautiful city. It was such great fun to share it with Emily and Eric.

After a long, overnight flight we arrived in Paris to find Emily and Eric waiting and watching for us at the airport. They had arrived minutes earlier and stationed themselves in a place where they could see all arrivals.  It was so wonderful to come out of the "tube" from the plane and see them there.

Two years is a long time to be apart. It was a joyful reunion.
We were a tired group after all night flights, but were determined to see all we could in just one week.
So we headed off for a day of sight seeing in Paris.

A fast look at Paris can be done best by jumping on a double double-decker bus. We saw the famous sights of this beautiful city together. What a great way to transition into non-missionary life.
We enjoyed the Seinne from a bus by day and by night on a river cruise.

We even stopped for a traditionally French meal of a little lunch of cheese and bread eaten in the lovely grounds of the Luxenburg gardens.

From Paris we went on to visit the palace and Hamlet at Versailles.

Then it was off to Monet's home in Giverney.
It's no wonder that he did such beautiful paintings with this place to inspire him.

From Giverny we went Northwest to Rouen. The ancient city is filled with beautiful timbered houses.  Even McDonalds was pretty.

There's an amazing ancient clock and a cathedral immortalized by Monet and a memorial to Joan of Arc, who was burned at the stake in Roeun.
