When you go on a mission people tell you that your family will receive many blessings from your willingness to serve the Lord. They tell you that you will get blessings for your family, as well as for you and those you serve. You think about things you would like to see happen and you pray for them.
What you don't think about is that those blessing might just happen without you!
So, we are very happy today to get word that Jennifer is engaged. Her chance to have happiness with an eternal companion was one of the blessing that we most hoped could happen. We just didn't plan that it would happen as we walked out the door.
But, she is so happy and we are thrilled for her and Marvin. She seems to be in a wonderful, supportive relationship and she feels secure in her decision. The family at home will rally around her and it will be a wonderful blessing. But we will be on the other side of the world--Happy and sad at the same time.

Jennifer's finance's name is Marvin Pearce. He has two daughters, ages 11 and 5 and Jen's kids really like them all and are wholeheartedly in favor of the marriage. So, that's very good.
We are happy for all of them. But this is not easy for parents who will be in Africa on their daughter's wedding day.
