Another Tough Day

Today our little granddaughter, Eva, 20 months old, had heart surgery. It was, again, a hard day to be away. Africa seemed very far from Phoenix Children's Hospital and without skype phone calls and visits we would not have made it through. Thankfully Scott and Jenna called us at every turn and it helped us feel closer to them, even from the other side of the world.
Eva was a little trooper. Here she is enjoying the waiting room while Mom & Dad checked her in .
.
She's so tiny to have to go through such a difficult procedure. But she took it all in stride and so did Jenna and Scott, her wonderful young parents. She was so cute in her little hospital gown and having lots of fun trying new things.
So tiny and fragile in ICU after the surgery.
Corinne, Alex and Jameson went to the hospital to wait with Jenna and Scott. What a sweet service from an aunt and cousins.
The results were not all that we'd hoped and prayed for and she will have to have another surgery to further correct the problem in the not to distant future, but she's doing well and we will all just keep praying for her and her parents as they move forward in the process of helping her.
We got to see her and talk to them on skype soon after she woke up. Isn't technology amazing!
She was talking, waving, laughing and just wonderful. We were happy to see them all doing well.
We're thankful that they live in a place where good hospitals and doctors can give her the medical care she needs.
She's such a cutie!

She is beautiful - we had a grandaughter have heart surgery also while we were serving in the Congo. Amazing how much our lives touch and we still have not met you in person. Blessings come in small packages and she fits the bill.
