The time has finally come!
After months of planning, and then anxiously waiting for approval from the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve, the big transfer comes on Tuesday (we hope.) In a crazy, but highly usual manner, Rule #1 is in place. We still don't have our passports, airline tickets or visas. They're in Kinshasa being processed. So, we will be going to Burundi on Tuesday, unless we don't! Then we regroup and make plan B. Nothing is easy in the Congo. It's true to the end.

We have been packing all week and getting everything ready to help those at the office, whm we leave behind. We are ready for the BIG MOVE!
We had to fit everything we would take in five bags. This meant that we had to prioritize what we must take and what we'd have to leaving behind. So, we started packing bags.
For me the early choices were simple and got packed in the first bag. There were just some things that had to go.
NO question!
OK! So, I have no practical sense, but some things just have to take priority! Our African treasures went in the suitcases first. So, you just wear a little less variety of clothes. Right?
And who needs storage containers or sheets? Not me!
However, even I couldn't justify taking some things that I wish I could have taken.
We packed, weighed, unpacked, rearranged, weighed and repacked things. Each time the men would hoist the bags onto our fancy scale and tell us the good or bad news. One time Sister Frogley needed to downsize by 12 kg. She put her precious silverware and all her utensils in her pitcher and weighed them. In this picture she was saying "This is only two kg. How can this be only 2 kgs and I need to take out 12? Oh no!"
Finally, the bags were at acceptable weight limits, zipped and locked.
Now our bags are packed, we're ready to go, we're standing here... and wondering if the paperwork will come and we will be on our way on Tuesday! We sure hope so! We're ready!

Oh! Our hearts are with you. What difficult choices to make. I agree that some things are priceless... and others like sheets and clothing, you can buy again at the new place.
You made good choices. Got to remember your priorities. (Just don't forget your scriptures)
Bon voyage, dear friends. What wonderful adventures await you in Burundi. Our love goes with you.
